Custom Diorama 1/6 "Orca" Barco de Tiburón / Jaws Boat

Hola, aquí os dejo las fotos del proyecto más largo y complicado que me han encargado. 
La idea era recrear a escala 1/6 la mitad del barco de la película Tiburón, "Orca", para exponer las figuras custom de los tres protagonistas de la película, Quint, Brody y Hooper, con cabezas esculpidas por Trevor Grove. 
La escena debía ser el inicio de la búsqueda del tiburón, en la que Quint está tranquilamente sentado en la silla de pesca.

No tenía ni idea de cómo empezar, pero poco a poco fui construyendo la estructura y después intenté hacer todas las partes y objetos de la parte trasera del barco lo más parecidos posible a la película, en la que además utilizaron dos barcos diferentes, por lo que hay partes que cambian según la escena.

Al principio calculé unos 4 meses, ya que es muy difícil calcular el tiempo que va a necesitar un proyecto así y al final me llevó 9 meses terminarlo. Lo peor era la sensación de que nunca lo acabaría, ya que cuando pensaba que una parte era la última, revisaba una captura de la película y veía otro detalle más que había que hacer.

El diorama está hecho con madera, aluminio, plástico, metacrilato, resina de poliéster y acero.

Algunas fotos no muestran el color real de algunas partes del barco, debido a que no es fácil iluminar algo tan grande con mi nula habilidad como fotógrafo.


My last commission project, the hardest and longest I´ve done.
I had to make half of the boat from the movie "Jaws", 1/6 scale, to display the custom figures of the three main characters of the movie, Quint, Brody and Hooper, with headsculpts by Trevor Grove.
The scene would be the beggining of the shark´s hunting, with Quint sitting in his fighting chair.

I had no idea of where to start, but step by step I built the structure and later I tried to make every piece of the boat as much movie accurate as I could, but It wasn´t easy because in the movie they used two different boats and some parts change from one scene to another.

In the beggining I thought the project it would take about 4 months and finally it took 9 months to finish it.

The diorama is made of wood, aluminum, plastic, methacrylate, polyester resin and steel.

Some pictures don´t show the real colors of some parts of the boat, but it´s not easy to light such a big diorama with my null photographer skills.

POTC: 1/6 Jack Sparrow Sinking boat diorama

Éste es mi último encargo. El cliente quería una réplica del barco de Jack Sparrow a escala 1/6 para representar la escena de la primera película en la que el barco se va hundiendo mientras llega a puerto con Jack subido en la parte de arriba del mástil.

 Al principio pensé que me llevaría menos tiempo pero me ha costado dos meses terminarlo. Los mástiles grandes son de madera de haya y todas las partes pequeñas de madera de balsa.
 Lo que más trabajo me dio fue la plataforma del mástil y sobre todo el agua. Nunca había trabajado con agua artificial y no sabía los problemas que da, por lo menos la marca Vallejo, no la recomiendo.Tarda un día en secar cada capa de 1 o 2 mm, no puedes crear capas de mayor grosor de una vez porque salen grietas y al final encoge.
El oleaje lo hice con un gel de la misma marca que no funciona mal.
 La bandera y la vela parecen más amarillentas de lo que son en algunas fotos, será porque no tengo ni idea de fotografía. Quedaría muy bien con una imagen de la escena de la película detrás, pero al ser tan grande, mide 52 cm de alto, no encuentro imágenes con tanta resolución.

This is my last commission work. The customer asked me for a replica of Jack Sparrow´s ship 1/6 scale, based on the scene of POTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl where the ship sinks arriving to the dock.

It took two months to make. The big masts are made of beech and all the mall parts of balsa wood.
The hardest parts to make were the platform and the water. It´s the first time that I work with fake water and I had some problems because it needs several days to dry out and the layers have to be 1 or 2 mm thick, if not some cracks could appear and finally it shrinks. I wouldn´t recommend Vallejo, the brand that I used.
For the waves I used water texture gel from same brand.

The flag and sail looks more yellowish than they really are, because of my terrible skills as a photographer.
